Do you ever really look at the light? At how it can completely change the way we see a scene… or even a person?
I love the way early morning light tells the story of a forest. The way it finds its way through the depths, catches the edges of rough bark, glides across the tips of soft moss and touches weathered stone still holding the chill from the night… revealing details that have been there all along but are so easy to walk past.
The more I photograph nature, the more I realize how much of ourselves I see reflected back.
A forest isn’t beautiful because it has remained untouched. Trees carry the scars of storms. Roots hit obstacles and find another way to grow. Branches break and they fall, yet the tree… the tree keeps growing. And what has fallen becomes the foundation for something new.
There’s something very human in that.
And I feel that’s what the morning light does best.
It doesn’t change what’s there. It just asks us to look a little closer. To take interest.
To notice the details and see its story.
